FAQs

You have questions. We have answers!

  • Can family members attend CPW?

As a community dedicated to hands-on learning and research, we'd typically invite families to campus to learn more about MIT. However, due to MIT's Covid-19 safety protocols, Campus Preview Weekend will be for students only this year. We know this is disappointing, but we've planned a series of online sessions for parents and families to answer your questions and give you a good sense of what MIT is like.

Online programming for parents will run from March 30–April 1 and invitations will be sent the week of March 21.

  • How do students get to campus?

For those who are flying to Boston, we have shuttle buses departing from Logan Airport Terminal C from 8 AM–9 PM on Thursday, April 7. Shuttle buses will run to Logan Airport on Sunday, April 10, from 6 AM–1 PM.

Students arriving outside of these hours will need to make their own travel arrangements. MIT campus is easily accessible from the airport using public transportation and ride-share apps.

Where do students stay during CPW?

All admitted students attending CPW will be hosted by a current undergraduate student in their MIT residence. This includes the residence halls, fraternities, sororities, and independent living groups. Hosts will provide accommodation from Thursday morning until Sunday at noon. There will be no accommodation available outside of this timeframe.

What do students do for meals?

CPW has over 500 events and most have food. We also have a fruit and granola bar station at CPW HQ where students can stop in from 9 AM–8 PM and grab some healthy snacks. We also provide each student $20.26 through Mobile ID that can be used at any MIT food vendor.

  • What are the COVID precautions?

All admitted students registered for CPW will be put into MIT’s COVID Pass system and must follow the Institue’s COVID policies while on campus. They will also be required to submit proof of vaccination or a waiver request by April 1. Once complete, they will be need to set up a COVID Pass account so they can access campus. All admitted students attending CPW have been set an antigen test to their home. Photo proof of a negative COVID test must be uploaded to their portal the day before arrival.

In the event a student develops symptoms and tests positive while on campus, they will be accommodated on campus in a private room to isolate in accordance with current state guidance or released into the care of a parent or guardian.

    Anything else we should know?

All admitted students under the age of 18 who plan to attend CPW must have a parent or guardian submit their Medical Release Form and Minor Acknowledgment Form.
